For Authors

Technical Preparation

Technical requirements for manuscript preparation.

Technical Preparation

Manuscripts should be submitted in Serbian or English. The text should be prepared in Microsoft Word, using Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and justified alignment.

Authors are also required to submit a statement of conflict of interest, with or without an acknowledgment section, as well as references, a list of abbreviations, tables, figures, and figure legends. The manuscript should clearly indicate the placement of figures, charts, graphs, and tables, without leaving blank spaces in the text.

The structure of other types of manuscripts should be adapted to the nature of the content. A consistent style should be used throughout the manuscript. For structuring and emphasizing content, use only lettering and/or numbering, without applying formatting styles such as bold, underline, or italics.

Typing rules should be followed: leave one space after punctuation marks, and use tabulation for larger spacing. If abbreviations are used multiple times in the text, their full meaning should be provided in parentheses at first mention.

Figures (photographs and graphs) should be prepared using appropriate software (e.g., MS Office Excel). Units of measurement for length, height, weight, and volume should be expressed in metric units (meter – m, kilogram – kg, liter – l) or their subunits.

Temperature should be expressed in degrees Celsius (°C), and concentration in moles (mol). All clinical and biochemical results should be reported using the International System of Units (SI).

Devices should be identified by their commercial (trade) names, with the manufacturer’s name and location provided in parentheses. Only generic drug names should be used when referring to medications.

Manuscript Length

The manuscript (including title page, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references, and figure/table legends) may contain up to 3,000 words for original articles; up to 2,000 words for communications; up to 5,000 words for review articles; up to 1,500 words for professional reports; and up to 1,000 words for other contributions. The total number of tables, figures, charts, and diagrams should not exceed half the number of manuscript pages.

Tables, Figures, Graphs, and Diagrams

Tables should be presented on a separate page and numbered with Arabic numerals in the order of appearance in the text. Table titles should clearly describe their content. All abbreviations used in tables must be explained in the table legend. Tables should be created exclusively in Microsoft Word.

Photographs should be submitted separately from the manuscript. If they include patients, they must be processed to ensure anonymity (e.g., blurring the face or placing a black bar over the eyes), where necessary. Figure captions should be provided on a separate page. Drawings, diagrams, and graphs should also be submitted on separate pages.

An acknowledgment section may be included at the end of the manuscript, expressing gratitude for scientific, professional, technical, or financial support. For research projects, authors must specify the project name, duration, location, and the institution where it was conducted.

Abbreviations

Only standard abbreviations should be used, and not in the title or abstract. The full term followed by the abbreviation in parentheses should be provided at first mention, while only the abbreviation should be used thereafter. Measurement units should follow the International System of Units (SI), with alternative units used only where appropriate.

Use of AI Tools and Transparency

Authors must clearly disclose all uses of artificial intelligence (AI) tools (e.g., language editing) within the manuscript. This includes specifying the name, version, and purpose of the AI tool used.

The use of AI tools must not compromise the originality or scientific integrity of the manuscript. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of all content generated or modified by AI. While AI may be used for language editing (and must be explicitly stated), it cannot be listed as an author.

Authors must take full responsibility for all aspects of the manuscript, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and writing. AI tools cannot be used to delegate this responsibility.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and reliability of all claims and conclusions in the manuscript. They must verify the accuracy and appropriateness of AI-generated images and clearly describe the methodology used.

All AI-generated content must comply with scientific standards and ethical guidelines. The views expressed in published articles do not necessarily reflect those of the editors or editorial board.

Authors bear full legal and moral responsibility for the ideas presented in their work, the accuracy of the information, and the originality of the content. The publisher assumes no liability for any claims for damages.
