Focus and Scope of Interest

The NurseNexus Journal is a scientific and professional journal intended for nurses and medical technicians of all levels of education, published by the Association of Graduate Healthcare Professionals of the Republic of Srpska. It is an open access journal with a double-blind peer review process, published twice a year, in June and December.

It is designed to provide high-quality and up-to-date information in the field of nursing within healthcare, nursing care, and nursing education, as well as information relevant to theory, practice, and science.

The journal primarily addresses health sciences particularly nursing but also other related fields. Nursing intersects with boundary disciplines, overlaps with them, and draws on their knowledge for its development. In practice, healthcare professionals collaborate through teamwork, interdisciplinary, or multisectoral approaches, reflecting the complexity and importance of nursing care.

Nursing care takes place within the field of health care and medical practice; therefore, its connections are most evident with medicine, pedagogy, and psychology, as well as with other branches of medical practice, pediatrics, oncology, gynecology and obstetrics, infectious diseases, psychiatry, hygiene, internal medicine, and others.

The purpose of nursing research is to add new knowledge to the existing body of knowledge available to the nursing profession. Knowledge generated through research may have practical implications. Nursing research aims not only to develop professional practice but also to advance nursing as a science, upon which nursing practice is increasingly based.

The purpose of nursing research is to add new knowledge to the existing body of knowledge available to the nursing profession.

The journal publishes papers covering various fields, including management and leadership, communication skills, mental health, adult nursing care, geriatrics and gerontology, psychiatric nursing, infectious diseases nursing, surgical nursing, intensive care, midwifery/obstetric nursing, health informatics, public health, research methodology, spiritual care, and many other categories.

The journal accepts manuscripts from a broad but well-defined range of health disciplines and interdisciplinary fields, making it both a professional and informative publication.

We particularly encourage manuscripts addressing global or regional health challenges, comparative studies, or interdisciplinary topics that connect health sciences with social, behavioral, and psychological sciences.

Manuscripts may be submitted in the following categories: original scientific articles, meta- analyses, review articles, professional papers, systematic reviews, case reports, research notes, discussions, conference presentations, book reviews, professional news, letters to the editor, various communications, event announcements, project presentations, memorial notes, news and letters from the field of nursing, and reports on educational and professional practice.

The mission of the journal is to advance global knowledge in health and related sciences by providing a platform for methodologically high-quality research, reviews, and professional reports based on evidence.

The journal also aims to support early-career researchers and authors (including students) in disseminating their work, thereby contributing to the promotion of health, education, and interdisciplinary research worldwide.

The category of the paper is suggested by the reviewers, while the final decision is made by the Editorial Board following an anonymous double-blind peer-review process.

The journal publishes papers written in Serbian and English. Opinions and statements published in the articles of this journal are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editorial Office.

Decisions regarding journal policy and responsibility levels are made by the Publishing Board and the Editorial Council of the journal.

The Publishing Board is a body with a strategic and managerial role in the journal. It makes key decisions on journal policy and determines the goals and direction of journal development, publishing policy, oversees finances and sustainability, collaborates with institutions and publishers, appoints the Editor-in-Chief or confirms their selection, and performs primarily administrative and organizational functions.

The Editorial Council is a professional body responsible for the scientific and content quality of the journal. It consists of experts in the relevant field, assists the editorial team in selecting topics and manuscripts, evaluates article quality, participates in the peer-review process, provides expert opinions and recommendations, and proposes improvements to the quality and visibility of the journal, thus having an advisory and scientific role.
