Psychosocial aspects of\nnursing represent an important segment of\nmodern health care and include the\nemotional, psychological, social, and\ncommunication dimensions of the\nrelationship between nurses and patients.\nEmpathy and altruism play a significant role\nin establishing a quality therapeutic\nrelationship, improving communication,\nand increasing patient satisfaction with the\nprovided care.<br> <br>\nThe aim of this review paper\nwas to analyze the importance of\npsychosocial aspects of nursing, with\nspecial emphasis on the impact of empathy\nand altruism of nurses on the quality of\nhealth care. The results of the available\nliterature indicate that developed empathy\ncontributes to a better understanding of\npatients\u2019 needs, reduction of fear, anxiety,\nand feelings of isolation, as well as greater\ntrust between patients and health care\nprofessionals. An empathetic and humane\napproach positively affects cooperation\nduring treatment, health outcomes, and\npatient satisfaction. Altruism, as a selfless\nform of prosocial behavior, contributes to a professional and humane relationship\ntoward patients and represents an important\ncharacteristic of the nursing profession.\nPsychosocial aspects of nursing are also\nimportant for nurses themselves, since\nprolonged exposure to stress and\nemotionally demanding situations can lead\nto professional burnout and emotional\nexhaustion.<br><br>Conclusion.
